Provides for an appropriate educational program for children being served in the therapeutic classrooms located within the Winterset Community Schools
Is a member of a multidisciplinary team that collaborates to support the design, implementation and decision-making regarding therapeutic classroom supports
Facilitates student learning using instructional techniques and materials that meet each student’s individual, academic, social-emotional, behavioral and mental health (SEBMH) needs
Provides a safe, supportive, healthy, and trauma-sensitive educational environment conducive to learning
Serves as an advocate for all children and youth
Education & Experience
Appropriately licensed by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners
Special Education Endorsement: Instructional Strategist II BD/LD (or equivalent) or willing to obtain
Training and demonstrated successful experience working with children/youth who are experiencing significant social, emotional, behavioral and mental health needs
Knowledge, process and supports for Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Intervention Planning
Salary
Full-time with a bachelor’s degree working 192 days a year: starting salary of $50,782
Top of pay range: $97,369 at the doctorate level

Job Description
Under the direction of a licensed teacher, provides support services to students in the therapeutic classrooms located within the Winterset Community Schools
Is a member of a multidisciplinary team that collaborates to support the design, implementation and decision-making regarding therapeutic classroom supports
Works cooperatively and in coordination with children/youth, their families, instructional leaders, teachers, other school staff and local agencies to promote self-awareness and self-control, along with the development of productive social-emotional competencies and necessary coping strategies
Work with children/youth, individually and in small groups, to support their educational progress
Serves as an advocate for all children and youth
Education & Experience
Two years post-secondary education or paraeducator certification required
Post-secondary degree in education and/or social services preferred
Demonstrated successful experience working with children/youth who are experiencing significant social, emotional, behavioral and mental health needs
