Library & Digital Resources

Heartland AEA provides instructional materials to support PK-12 classroom instruction and school improvement. We offer support to schools in a variety of formats.

Library Collection

PK-12 educators and students will find they keep coming back for more of the instructional materials and library books provided by Heartland AEA. Educators can search the online catalog for resources or call and talk to a library staff member about what type of resources they need and the audience, reading, interest or grade level needed.

We have a robust print collection for…

  • Early readers
  • Second language learners
  • Struggling readers
  • On-target readers
  • High-interest, low vocabulary readers
  • Fiction and non-fiction readers
  • Professional learning literature and research

The Heartland AEA library is located in our Johnston Regional Education Center. Educators can stop by and check out items or call or email their requests, which will be delivered to schools via our van delivery service.

Digital Resources

All teachers and students in our service area have no-cost access to several online resources. Students and staff login with a username and password that is assigned to their school and have 24/7 access. All online resources are appropriate and designed for the age and interests of students, free from objectionable content and reliable, as they have been carefully selected by educational experts.

The digital collection includes…

  • Audiobooks
  • Clipart
  • Documents
  • Ebooks
  • Encyclopedias
  • Images
  • Magazine articles
  • Newspaper articles
  • Scholarly journals
  • Sound files
  • Streaming videos

Access to some digital resources is by school username/password. Other digital resources are accessed with the student or educator’s school email address, which provides opportunities to personalize learning and instruction.

AEA Scout is the main portal for secondary digital resources. Lower elementary students will log in to some of the digital resources separately with their school username/password. Technology is changing quickly and access for both secondary and lower elementary students will be changing in this next year.
