Staff serving children in Early ACCESS (birth to age 3) in our northern region recently received the “Community Partner Award” for generosity of spirit, commitment to the community and dedication to the families of Mid-Iowa Community Action – MICA.

Their nomination said, “Heartland AEA has worked very closely with Ames Early Head Start and Head Start staff. We have monthly meetings to consult about families who may need both AEA and MICA services or families that have not qualified for AEA services but still need support. The entire AEA staff is always willing to take phone calls from ITDS staff, help to problem solve or answer questions. The strong relationship between MICA staff and AEA staff is a valuable relationship in serving Story County children.”

Receiving the award are, left to right: 𝗟𝗶𝘀𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝗶𝗴 (early childhood consultant), 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘃𝗲𝗱𝘁 (early childhood consultant), Laura Burdette (MICA Early Head Start Infant Toddler Development Specialist), Madison Meeks (MICA Early Head Start Infant Toddler Development Specialist) and 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗸𝘆 𝗗𝗼𝗱𝗱 (Early ACCESS family support coordinator).
