Library & Digital Resources

Heartland AEA provides instructional materials and resources to support PK-12 classroom instruction and school improvement. We offer support to schools in a variety of formats.

Library Collection

PK-12 educators and students will find they keep coming back for more of the instructional materials and library books provided by Heartland AEA. Educators can search the online catalog for resources or call and talk to a library staff member about what type of resources they need and the audience, reading, interest or grade level needed.

We have a robust print collection for…

  • Early readers
  • Second language learners
  • Struggling readers
  • On-target readers
  • High-interest, low vocabulary readers
  • Fiction and non-fiction readers
  • Professional learning literature and research

The Heartland AEA library is located in our Johnston Regional Education Center. Educators can stop by and check out items or call or email their requests. Materials can be delivered to schools via our van delivery service.

Digital Resources

All educators and students in our service area have access to no-cost digital resources such as Encyclopedia Britannica and BookFLIX. These digital resources were selected to best meet the varied needs and interests of students and educators. They reflect a broad range of topics to support desired student outcomes and educator professional learning.

How I’ve made an impact: I assisted with a comprehensive implementation of technology with students that included goal setting, benchmarks and specific outcomes for annual reporting to the district’s school board. A multi-year action plan included tracking student/parent/teacher feedback, implementation planning, professional learning and data collection to track evidence of progress and update goals. Over three years we increased technology integration and ultimately test scores.
