The Department of Education just posted August 1, 2016 an updated version of the AEA Special Education Procedures Manual. Attached are the pages related to health and the IEP. If you want to read the entire manual you may download a copy at http://www.iowaideainfo.org/.
I was pleased to see no major changes for us. Same code for school nurses (NR) and health services delegated to unlicensed staff (HS). The definition for HS is "Services provided by a qualified person trained by a RN, or advanced degree nurse (i.e. catheterization, tracheotomy, tube feeding, colostomy collection)". The paraprofessional code (PP) has a new definition "Paraprofessional services necessary to provide physical assistance or to implement the health or behavioral provisions of the IEP or an associated Individual Health Plan or Behavior Intervention Plan". Guidance has not changed in that you may still use HS for a student with only health services and no behavior billing. If both health and behavior services are provided, use the PP code on Page F of the IEP.
