Library & Digital Resources

Heartland AEA provides instructional materials to support K-12 classroom instruction and support for school improvement. We offer support to schools in a variety of formats. All schools in our service area have access to several online resources (many of which are available via Iowa AEA Online, a virtual library that provides no-cost access to 13 high-quality, web-based resources funded and supported by Iowa’s AEAs). Students and staff login with a username and password that is assigned to their school and have 24/7 access. All online resources are appropriate and designed for the age and interests of students, free from objectionable content, reliable as they have been carefully selected by educational experts and free for students and educators as the AEA pays fees for the Internet subscriptions.

In addition to the amazing online resources, we also have our Heartland AEA Library which is housed in our Johnston Regional Education Center. Educators can stop by and check out items, or they can reserve materials through our online media catalog which are then delivered directly to area schools on the Heartland AEA vans. Materials that are available to area educators include:

  • Books, journals and magazines for educator professional development

  • Age-appropriate books for students

  • Audio books and play-along books for teachers and students

  • DVDs, VHS and streamed videos online to use in the classroom
