Library Materials

The Heartland AEA library contains many resource materials on ELL/diversity issues that educators may check out free of charge. The library is housed in the Johnston Regional Education Center at 6500 Corporate Drive, Johnston. Educators may stop by and check out items, or they can reserve materials through the online library catalog.

The library also contains children and young adult books that are written in other languages such as Bosnian, Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese and Arabic (some are bilingual).

Navigate to Mackin VA Login Heartland AEA offers Tales2Go audiobooks for K-8th grade students through our Mackin VIA subscription. Tales2Go is an award-winning product that streams thousands of titles from leading publishers and storytellers to desktop/laptop computers. All have professional narration, and many are narrated in other languages. Log in to Mackin VIA with the school username and password, click "Databases" and look for the Tales2Go collection.
Visit Pebble Go Website Heartland AEA provides a subscriptions to PebbleGo, an award winning PreK-3 database for reading and research. The PebbleGo databases make learning and improving reading and research skills fun, building on children’s interest. PebbleGo offers four databases: PebbleGo Animals, PebbleGo Earth & Space, PebbleGo Biographies and PebbleGo Social Studies. Databases are simple to navigate and offer key reading supports such as read-along audio and word-by-word highlighting.
