Sue Schirmer, Heartland AEA Professional Learning & Leadership Consultant, was recently selected as the Iowa School Counselor Association’s 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award Winner for School Counseling. Sue received her award at the ISCA’s awards recognition luncheon on Nov. 3 during the ISCA’s annual conference at Prairie Meadows. Sue serves as Heartland AEA’s school counseling consultant and spent a number of years as a school counselor.
A quote from one of her nomination letters said, “Sue’s passion is evident when it comes to school counseling, and with the many hats she wears in her position at Heartland AEA, she always makes time for school counseling. It is this passion that has endeared her to many school counselors in our profession. Sue’s contributions to school counseling in Iowa are more than can be written about in this letter. I cannot think of a person who is more deserving of this award than Sue Schirmer.”
