Pete Evans, an architect and lecturer at Iowa State University, is the newest member of the nine-member Heartland AEA board of directors.
Evans represents the Ankeny, Des Moines, North Polk and Saydel school districts and is filling the term left vacant by Marcy Sparks. He will serve out Sparks’s term until November when he will be up for reelection.
Evans, of Ankeny, is a lecturer at Iowa State in the Department of Architecture, a position he has held since August 2009. He teaches courses in architecture design studio and architecture design and communication.
He is also the owner of spatialP, a consulting business that specializes in architecture, design/fabrication, digital content creation and architecture tools and technology. For 13 years Evans has been a practicing architect in central Iowa, and since 2007 he has been a volunteer for the American Institute of Architects' Technology in Architectural Practice program.
Evans is a member of the American Institute of Architects, and he earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Iowa State in 1995.
