Chief Financial Officer
Kurt Subra is the Chief Financial Officer at Heartland AEA with responsibility for all areas of finance and business operations in the Agency such as leasing contracts; business policy development; budget development; compliance with federal, state and local regulatory authorities and management of all agency assets. He is a member of Heartland AEA's Agency Planning Council and Shared Services Planning Council.
Prior to joining Heartland AEA, Kurt served six years as the Chief Financial Officer for the West Des Moines Schools and five years as the Chief Financial Officer/Board Secretary for the Ames Schools. He also served in various financial roles at Pioneer Hi-Bred in Johnston and KPMG, Inc. in Minneapolis. He has been an instructor at the Iowa School Business Management Academy and is past-president of the Iowa Association of School Business Officials. Kurt was the recipient of the 2013 Iowa Association of School Business Officials’ Professional Leadership Award. The award is in recognition of school business officials who have demonstrated excellence in service to their school district, communities and the profession.
Kurt holds a master’s degree in business administration from Iowa State University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Northern Iowa.
